NBSM Successfully Manufactures Welded TA2 Titanium Separator

NBSM's production department is proud to announce the successful completion and internal quality inspection of a series of welded TA2 titanium separators. Designed for liquid storage and separation, the fabrication of this non-pressure vessel is a significant achievement that highlights our advanced capabilities in working with challenging materials and executing custom fabrication projects.

Mastering the Challenges of Titanium Welding

The core component of this separator is made from Grade 2 titanium (TA2), a material chosen for its exceptional corrosion resistance in aggressive media such as chlorides and its high strength-to-weight ratio. However, titanium's reactivity at high temperatures makes it highly susceptible to contamination by oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen during welding, which can severely compromise the integrity and corrosion resistance of the welds.

To overcome this issue, our production and technical engineering teams worked closely together to develop a comprehensive Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). Thanks to the skilled work of our certified welders and meticulous quality control, the final welds are of an excellent standard, as verified by non-destructive testing (UT), meeting all design and client specifications.
