Clad Plate
Explosive bonding (also known as explosive welding) is a solid state joining process in which the clad metal is driven into the basemetal by the explosive energy, which also sets up an angular collision. At the impact point of two components, a thin layer isstripped from both colliding surfaces and is ejected as a molten metal jet. The plasma jet acts to remove oxides and impuritiesfrom both metals’ surfaces, leaving behind clean metal for joining. The two surfaces are in intimate contact under extremepressure enabling the bond to be formed. Under the function of high temperature, high pressure and plasticity deformation, themetallurgicabond between atoms is created in two surfaces.
